From the Sketch to the Dress

Top2

Hi Everyone! If you have been following me on Instagram you might have noticed that I had been working on another dress aside from the wedding gown.  Actually I was making a dress for myself to wear at the wedding ceremony. I wanted something unique and colorful and as we say, if you want something done, do it yourself…

When I saw this fabric over a year ago in Brussels at La Maison Dorée, I had to have it! I didn’t know for what yet, but I just fell in love with its color and its fluidity. I got myself a piece and carefully kept it on my “to sew” fabric pile, so when the wedding day approached I knew I didn’t have to look any further!

I then had to do a few sketches to get a clear idea of the shape that I would be going for. Empire silhouette it was! (Which is when a dress is tight fitted until under the bust and loosen itself from that point) If you are little like me, the empire line is just perfect to elongate the silhouette. Or at least pretend ;-)
