Today I wanted to talk to you about my very good friend Maia and her unique brand of swimwear: Sabine de Brumes…
Long story short, Maia and I met 10 years ago while studying at the London Collège of Fashion and have been friends ever since. As last week, she was invited to show her collection at the Ethno Tendance fashion weekend in Brussels, I thought it would be nice to combine my picture from the show with a photoshoot we improvised earlier this year, in August.
As the temperature were rising, we decided to shoot two of her signature ensembles on the lovely Amalia. And although it seems like those pictures were taken in some sunny destination, they were actually taken in the center of Brussels at the artificial summer beach near the canal, also know as Bruxelles les Bains!
Sabine de Brumes is a tribute to her late mother Sabine, artist and designer. Inspired by the 40/50s pinup’s and jazz music, her collection fits all type of silhouette thanks to her clever mix between vintage cuts and modern techniques. But the particularity of her swimwear, aside from the fact exude femininity and that they are exclusively made in France is that they are completely reversible! Which is really clever as you get a double set of bikini for the price of one. One side is her signature print (which she designs herself!) and the other has a solid color such as black, yellow, pink or blue. So that you get to choose the woman you want to be ;-)
